SUMMARY:Day 1 - Simplifying Aesthetic Anterior Composite Resins
DESCRIPTION:Achieving excellent aesthetic and functional results when restoring anterior teeth\nBeginning with a lecture covering the relevant physical properties required of composites to be used for restoring anterior teeth\, this one-day course explores the concepts of colour as they relate to tooth shade selection. As there are presently so many options on the market\, the importance of opacity/translucency as distinct from colour alone will be explained to assist participants in selecting composite systems for use in their own practices. \nFinally\, the multi-layered approach to restoring anterior teeth using varying opacities of composites will be demonstrated together with simplified techniques for build-up\, finishing and polishing. The practical exercises in this course will give participants the opportunity to restore typodont teeth utilising a multi-shaded\, aesthetic composite system and the layering techniques presented in the lecture. \nCourse topics:\n\nCurrent composite resin technologies and systems designed for aesthetic\, single and multi-layered build-up techniques\nShade selection- understanding colour and teeth\nA simplified approach to multi-layered anterior composite restorations\nFinishing and polishing techniques for microfill\, microhybrid\, and nanocomposites\nCan composite resins restore adequate function and aesthetics?\nIndications for choosing between composite and ceramics\nAre composite restorations cost-effective for the patient and the dentist?\nClinical examples to illustrate techniques for easier practice\nUnderstand different treatment modalities for gingival recession defects.\nUnderstand how good planning can minimise complications.\nsockets.\n\nAt the completion of the course\, attendees should have a greater understanding of the newer composite technologies available to achieve excellent aesthetic and functional results when restoring anterior teeth.

SUMMARY:Tissue Management for Prevention & Treatment of Peri-Implantitis
DESCRIPTION:Bacterial plaque accumulation induces inflammatory changes in the soft- tissues surrounding oral implants and it may lead to peri-implant disease and ultimately to implant failure. Different treatment strategies for peri-implantitis have been suggested: a non-surgical approach\, resective procedures or alternatively\, bone regenerative procedures. \nThe aim of this hands-on workshop is to give to the participants both theoretical and practical information to be used in the everyday clinical reality. Specific surgical techniques\, such as connective tissue grafting\, guided bone regeneration concepts and biomaterials application in the prevention and treatment of peri-implantitis will be described by means of clinical cases and videos. The most recent data from the literature will be the scientific background of the proposed concepts. \nThe hands-on session will include: \n\nGuided bone regeneration exercises\nConnective tissue graft harvesting techniques\nBiomaterials application in soft and hard-tissue defects\nSpecific surgical procedures in the treatment of peri-implantitis\n\nThe participants will be supported in the step-by-step application of the surgical techniques described by Dr Beretta.

SUMMARY:Mastering the Posterior Composite Restoration
DESCRIPTION:Please join Prof Alejandro Hepburn for a workshop in Mastering the Posterior Composite Restoration. This Hands on Course Workshop will discuss material selection\, cavity design\, material placement and control in giving better guidelines for success. \nContent:\nAfter a theoretical introduction delegates will carry out three different restorations. The first will be a direct Class I restoration. Delegates will perform a restoration using the selective adhesive technique. Delegates will then perform a direct Class II restoration but\, with an increase of the biological and mechanical compromise. Delegates will also make a semi direct restoration. In this way you will perform a “dentin substitute” that also raises the proximal margins. Then you will have to shape the cavity and take a partial impression with alginate to create a model with die silicone. Over that model you will learn to build the restoration using a variety of materials\, finish it once removed from the model\, and learn to adhesively cement it with a composite resin. \nLecturer:\n\nDentist. Graduated at University of Buenos Aires Dental School. Buenos Aires\, Argentina (March 1992)\nPost graduated at University of Buenos Aires Teaching Career. Buenos Aires\, Argentina (December 1998)\nAssociated Professor at the Endodontics Department. University of Buenos Aires Dental School (Argentina) (since 2017).\nRegular Professor of the Endodontics Post Grade Career. University of Buenos Aires Dental School (Argentina) (since 2018).\nRegular Professor at the Oral Rehabilitation Post Grade Career. University del Desarrollo Dental School (Chile) (since 2005).
