The course will describe laser applications in endodontics, implant dentistry, restorative dentistry, aesthetic dentistry, and periodontal treatment. Non-thermal applications of lasers including analgesia will be discussed, as well as principles of safe deployment of laser technology into clinical dental practice, and current regulatory requirements for laser use.
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Appreciate how different laser types cause different effects on hard and soft tissue
- Understand the mechanisms of laser-tissue interactions
- Understand the principles for selecting appropriate laser types and
Appreciate the requirements for using a laser in different Australian jurisdictions
Participants will have the opportunity to work with different laser types on the bench, in a supervised hands-on session, to appreciate how changing laser type and panel settings alters the effect on the target area being treated.
